Larry Price, Founder

Larry Price served in the Army during the Vietnam War, and ended his military career as chief cook for General Westmoreland. After his Honorable Discharge, Larry continued his education under the GI Bill and became the Veteran Recruiter at Southwestern Community College and San Diego State University. He has actively served the less fortunate in the San Diego, California area for over 25 years in many capacities, including as a member of the City of San Diego Homeless Task Force, mentorship programs for teens and recently released inmates and advocacy for HIV/AIDS children. He is the founder of Never Leave One Behind.

Dr. Inez Reynolds-Price

Dr. Reynolds-Price holds a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Counseling from Calvary Theological Seminary, a Master of Arts and a Ph.D. in Clinical Christian Counseling from Cornerstone University. She is a member of the National Christian Counselors Association and was employed by the Department of Social Services for over 30 years. Currently she is counseling families in the San Diego area, specializing in grief and crisis management.

Shauna Price

Shauna is a native of San Diego, California and the proud daughter of a Vietnam Veteran. She is a San Diego State University Alumnus. Shauna holds an Associate Degree in Business, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Public Administration, and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree. She currently works at the world renowned Salk Institute for Biological Studies. Shauna has been working with less fortunate families since childhood, feeding the homeless and working to make holidays better for children and their parents by collecting and distributing toys and food. One of her favorite motivational sayings is “let’s make today better than yesterday”.

LaKemba Hinton

LaKemba is a graduate of San Diego State University with and undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice and a master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. LaKemba currently works with the Department of Veterans Affairs Healthcare System in San Diego, California. Ms. Hinton is the clinic coordinator for the Mental Health Access Clinic. She also has experience working and assisting veterans with their benefits claim for service connection compensation and/or pension. In her spare time LaKemba enjoys running, traveling and reading.

Rhonda Hunt Phillips

Rhonda is the Naval Air Technical Data and Engineering Service Command Aviation Resource and Analysis Department Head located at the birthplace of Naval Aviation (1911)—Naval Air Station North Island. She is responsible for all Naval Aviation Enterprise Technical Manual and Engineering Drawing Data and Repositories Management. Rhonda has received many awards for her service, including the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Medal.

Jean Colarusso

Jean was born in West Pittston, Pennsylvania and grew up in a family that instilled religious values and community service. Since 1982, Friends of the Poor Cofounder, Jean Colarusso, has had a far reaching impact on the poorest of the poor in San Diego, Mexico, and Nigeria. Jean spent 30 years working in Mexico. For nine of those years, she worked closely with Mother Teresa who was setting up her worldwide headquarters in Tijuana. In 1998, Jean felt led by God to start working in Africa. They call her “Mamma Africa” because she comes to help and brings them hope.

Melvin Price

Mel enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1966 during the Vietnam era. He rose to the rank of sergeant specializing in base security. After his honorable discharge, he returned to school and completed his studies in Computer Management and Operations. He worked for Teledyne Ryan Aeronautical for over 30 years supervising in the Computer Systems Operations Division.

John Phillips

John is known for his smooth voice, style and knowledge of all genre of music. He was born and raised in Nashville, TN. After high school, John fulfilled his dream of serving his country in the United States Navy. He retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer in 1998 after 30 years of service. During his active duty career, John attended Tidewater Broadcasting School in Virginia Beach, VA. He worked as an On-Air radio personality for several stations, WNOR 1230AM Norfolk, VA, WKDJ Power 680AM and KRNB Magic 101FM in Memphis, TN. He earned his Associates of Science Degree in Broadcast Communications, Radio and Television at San Diego City College. He also taught in the San Diego Unified School District with the Junior Achievement Program, where he was honored as Consultant of the Year in 2001. He is currently On-Air with 88.3FM and owns Golden Voice Productions.
